From the award-winning Danish distillery, Stauning, this mildly smoked single malt whisky was made using pure local Nordic ingredients. Their barley is smoked over peat taken from nearby bogs, which is mixed with dried heather harvested from the heathland by Ringkøbing Fjord. The double-distillation takes place in small flame-heated pot stills and maturation is completed in first-fill wine and spirits casks. Bottled at 47% abv. An aromatic, smoky fragrance fills the nose, followed by elegant notes of citrus and honey. On the palate, we find a rich taste of tobacco, nuts, vanilla and damp oak. A medium-length finish reveals accents of green peppercorns.
