A free flowering variety of clematis, ‘Crystal Fountain’ also sometimes knowns as ‘Fairy Queen’ is a heavy and frequent flowerer, producing large, violet-blue, semi-double to double flowers with outer tepals striped with a silver-tinged bands surrounding a centre of dense petaloid stamens. These flowers bloom in late Spring through to early Summer with a second bloom appearing from late Summer through to Autumn, providing a lasting impression into the colder months. Plant in moisture retentive, well-drained soil and keep the root and base of the planted cool and shaded by other plants or protected with a layer of pebbles. Plant with the crown up to 8cm deep to encourage new growth from below ground level.
