Voltarol Back and Muscle Pain Relief Gel contains diclofenac diethylammonium, a type of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). NSAIDs are commonly used to relieve pain and inflammation. Diclofenac works by blocking cyclo-oxygenase (COX), an enzyme involved in the production of prostaglandins—chemicals in the body that cause pain, swelling, and inflammation in response to injury or certain conditions.
